Trilateral Conference of the Constitutional Courts of Italy, Spain and Portugal
24.10.2014The annual meeting of the Trilateral Conference of the Constitutional Courts of Portugal, Spain and Italy took place in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, from 16 to 18 October 2014.
This year, the Conference debated the topic "Multilevel Protection of Fundamental Rights".
The Portuguese delegation was formed by the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Joaquim de Sousa Ribeiro, Justices Ana Maria Guerra Martins, Maria José Rangel de Mesquita and Pedro Machete, and the Head of the Office of the President, Inês Horta Pinto. The President, Vice-President and all twelve Justices of the Spanish Constitutional Court participated, as well as the President and three Justices of the Italian Constitutional Court.
The report of the Constitutional Court of Portugal on the topic of the Conference was prepared and presented by Justice Ana Guerra Martins.
The Conference also included a working session of exchange of recent jurisprudence, where each delegation presented three relevant recent rulings of its Court, followed by a debate.

02.10.2014Justice Sousa Ribeiro, President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Vaz Ventura and Justice Cura Mariano participated in the 3rd Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice, in Seoul, from September 28 to October 1, 2014, hosted by the Constitutional Court of Korea.
The Congress brought together representatives of constitutional justice from nearly 100 countries, under the main topic Constitutional Justice and Social Integration. The delegation of the Portuguese Constitutional Court presented its report on the issue.
The gathering was also an opportunity for regional and language-based groups of constitutional jurisdictions to meet. The Portuguese delegation took part in the meetings of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts, the Ibero-american Conference on Constitutional Justice, and the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries.

Conference of European Constitutional Courts
15.05.2014The XVIth Congress of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts was held on 12 to 14 May 2014, in Vienna, Austria, hosted by the Austrian Constitutional Court.
The theme under discussion was "The Co-operation of Constitutional Courts in Europe - Current Situation and Perspectives".
The Constitutional Court of Portugal was represented by a delegation composed of its President, Justice Joaquim de Sousa Ribeiro, and Justices Catarina Sarmento e Castro, Ana Guerra Martins and José da Cunha Barbosa.

14.03.2014The Constitutional Court of Portugal participated in the Tenth Ibero-American Conference on Constitutional Justice, which took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from the 12th to the 15th of March.
The Conference addressed the topic «Normative strength and legal supremacy of the Constitution». The Portuguese delegation was composed of the Court's President, Justice Joaquim de Sousa Ribeiro, and Justice Maria de Fátima Mata-Mouros.
