The Constitutional Court received the President of the Constitutional Council of the French Republic for a working meeting on the 11th and 12th of October 2016.
The President, M. Laurent Fabius, was accompanied by the Director of the President’s Office, M. David Gaudillère. They were welcomed by the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Manuel da Costa Andrade, the Vice-President, Justice João Pedro Caupers, Justices Catarina Sarmento e Castro and Fernando Vaz Ventura, and the Head of the President’s Office, Dr Margarida Cortez.
The working meeting took place at the Constitutional Court and especially addressed the Portuguese constitutional system, with particular attention to the Court’s composition, modus operandi and competences. The participants also exchanged information and opinions on the recent case law produced by each of the institutions.

The annual meeting of the Trilateral Conference of the Constitutional Courts of Italy, Portugal and Spain took place in Rome, Italy, on the 6-8 October 2016.
This year the Conference addressed the topic of "Social benefits and citizenship", on which each of the participating Courts had prepared a report.
The delegation from the Constitutional Court of Portugal was made up of the President, Justice Manuel da Costa Andrade, Justices Maria de Fátima Mata-Mouros, Joana Costa and Lino Ribeiro, and the Head of the President’s Office, Dr Margarida Cortez.
The Portuguese report was written and presented by Justice Lino Ribeiro. In addition to hearing and discussing the reports, the Conference held a working session in which the three Courts shared information on their recent case law, with each delegation talking about one important decision in particular. On behalf of the Portuguese Court, Justice Maria de Fátima Mata-Mouros presented Ruling no. 429/2016. These presentations were followed by a general debate.

The 4th Assembly of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries met in Brasília on 7 and 8 April 2016.
The delegations from the Constitutional Court of Angola, Cape Verde and Portugal, the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil, the Supreme Courts of Justice of Guinea Bissau and of São Tomé and Príncipe, and the Constitutional Council of Mozambique debated the topic Effectiveness of the Constitutional Guarantees.
The delegation from the Portuguese Constitutional Court was composed of the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Joaquim Sousa Ribeiro, and Justices Fernando Vaz Ventura and João Pedro Caupers.
